Approval has been given to Mayo General Hospital for a new permanently-based MRI scanner and a replacement CT scanner. The money for MRI and CT scanners has been raised through the generosity of the people of Mayo. This funding will be used to extend the North Mayo Coastal Trail and develop a linear cycle route as part of the national cycle network as well as improved signage, parking, and toilet facilities in certain areas. Road safety roadshow returns to Mayo

The road safe roadshow project will make sure over 1,000 of Mayo's teenagers are aware of traffic dangers before they get behind the wheel themselves. The pupils were boisterous and high-spirited going into the AXA Roadsafe Roadshow at the Royal Theatre in Castlebar, but there was hardly a dry eye among them when they emerged from the hard-hitting presentation just over an hour later in previous years.
